The week of September 12, Nature Care Ecological will be treating phragmites at Town parks and stormwater ponds.

Phragmites are an invasive species of wetlands and the Great Lakes coastal shoreline. Phragmites create tall dense stands that crowd out native plants, degrade wildlife habitat, block shoreline views and reduce access for swimming, fishing and hunting.  In addition, invasive phragmites can be a fire hazard.  Stands along roadsides can obstruct the view of drivers, leading to automobile accidents.
