Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for conducting field inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with various municipal ordinances. The enforcement officer:

  • Coordinates inspections requiring joint inspection with other public agencies such as the health department, building department, sheriff’s department and other appropriate agencies
  • Inspects interior and exterior of premises for safety hazards and unsightly or unsanitary conditions.
  • Assists in the development or revision of current ordinances and promulgation of municipal ordinances.
  • Receives and responds to complaints of alleged violations of local codes and advises the owner or others in violation of the code.
  • Issues parking citations
  • Initiates necessary legal action against violators of various municipal ordinances, as well as appears and testifies in municipal court or other appropriate agencies to obtain compliance with all laws and ordinances.
